Cornwall cruise to big victory with a day to spare at sunny Trescobeas
Cornwall wrapped up a ten- wicket victory over Oxfordshire in Falmouth yesterday – but even skipper Tom Sharp was surprised at the ease with which his team secured a first Minor Counties Championship win of the season.
It was all over before lunch on day two at Trescobeas as the visitors resumed on 64 for five in their second innings, 36 runs in arrears and needing a solid batting performance, following their poor effort first time round when they were dismissed for 104.

However, they were not much better in their second innings and were knocked over for 115 in 43.4 overs, leaving Cornwall 16 runs to win, which they duly scored in eight balls and it was all over by 12.20pm.
"It's unbelievable, really, totally unexpected," said Sharp, who takes his team to Wiltshire in two weeks' time with their spirits revived following the rain-ruined draw at Torquay in the campaign opener against Devon.
"I was expecting bit more of a struggle, to be honest, considering Oxfordshire are a pretty decent side, but the boys bowled well, we didn't drop a catch the whole match, and it was very pleasing."
Sharp added: "There will be grumbling about the wicket, which was certainly a lot drier than most you see on day one of a three-day game, but neither side batted particularly well on it. They decided early on that it wasn't nice to bat on and batted accordingly."
Seamer Chris Hunkin, who had taken four for 29 on Sunday when Oxfordshire were dismissed short of 50 overs, claimed another four victims yesterday to take his match tally to eight for 51 while Sam Hockin took four for 14 yesterday, his best figures in his fledgling county career.
Oxfordshire resumed their second innings fully aware of the dangers posed by the track, having seen 25 wickets fall the previous day, when Cornwall were dismissed for 204 to establish their commanding lead in the match.
Only two of them made it into double figures – Daniel Rowe top-scoring with 24 before being caught by Matt Robins off Hockin and Charles Knightley departing for 14, another Hockin victim, the catcher this time Dan Davis.
The procession back to the pavilion was continuous but short-lived, and the formalities of sealing the home success were completed by Robins and David Roberts.
Devon captain Neil Hancock is hoping his bowlers can turn a promising position into a first win of the season on the final day of the game against Wales at Abergavenny.
Wales, 62 for four overnight, were bowled out for 184 in their first innings, with Devon spinners Gary Chappell and Chris Bradley taking five of the six wickets to fall.
Wales were 172 behind on first innings, 22 runs short of avoiding a request to follow-on, but Hancock decided to send Devon in again.
Second time around, Devon were 213 all out with Hancock top scoring on 85.
At last night's close, Wales were 11 for two, needing 375 to win on the third and last day with eight wickets in hand.
