Council's 'recycle debacle' is alienating residents
TORBAY Council have managed to alienate more residents than ever, especially here in Brixham.
Take the recycle debacle. We have the Tor2 manager (HE, August 26) suggesting we have a caddy full of kitchen waste on the kitchen window sill, and waste boxes on the draining board. What kind of home does he live in?

Then later today we had green wheeled bins delivered to the houses and shops in Bolton Street. Not just one or two, next door has six delivered and no-one has lived there for about ten years.
When I look through my window I can see 11 boxes, five of them on the pavement against a shop wall.
We have not had wheeled bins before because there is nowhere to put them except in front of the houses in an area which is supposed to be a conservation area.
The front of my block is listed because of its architecture, but now all that can be seen are filthy green bins.
Then the council is saying it is going to have to reduce the services it provides.
If it wants to save money it should cancel things which are not necessary, things we have managed without for hundreds of years.
For example, the proposal to decimate Paignton green with a play ground which can only be used by a handful of children at a time.
There are no doubt lots more non-unessential council projects the residents could point out.
