Council three step up to foot new floor bill
A HALL which has been serving the community for more than 90 years has had a new floor installed thanks to a generous donation from local councillors.
Elburton Village Hall, which was originally used as a World War I hospital in Noss Mayo, has been serving the local community since 1921.
The hall was in desperate need of a new floor and local ward councillors Vivien Pengelly, Nigel Churchill and Kevin Wigens decided to donate £5,000 of their Community Grant Fund towards the cost of it.
Cllr Pengelly said: "This will help to enable the community of Plymstock to continue to use it.

"We are delighted that residents of all ages will continue to enjoy this fantastic facility in the Dunstone ward."
The hall was brought to Elburton on the back of a lorry 91 years ago and has since provided a venue for a number of events, including concerts, dances and plays.
In 1949 the hall was remodelled to include dressing rooms and has provided a base for scouts and girl guides ever since.
Today the hall offers ballroom dancing, children's dance classes, bingo, aerobics, meditation classes, line dancing, meetings of the Elburton Residents Association, community policing meetings and coffee mornings, as well as private functions and parties.
