Crayfish makes a splash
A TIVERTON grandfather has been given claws for thought after taking home a crayfish he found in the town centre.
Vic Garland spotted one of the tiny creatures stranded on the ground outside WH Smith and Pack's Jewellers at the corner of Fore Street last week.

However, after contacting the Environment Agency, Vic learned that he had rescued a red-clawed American signal crayfish.
This nuisance of the aquatic world has endangered the native white-clawed crayfish by outcompeting it for food. It also causes severe damage to riverbanks.
