VIDEO: Crowds flock to the annual Tavistock Goose Fair
Thousands of people crammed the streets of a rural town to enjoy an annual market fair that dates back to the early 12th century.
The genteel streets of Tavistock in West Devon became a rumbustious throng of crowds who browsed around hundreds of market stalls, enjoyed fairground attractions and examined the geese and farm animals at the annual Goose Fair yesterday.
Stallholders reported a roaring trade during the day which managed to escape much of the wet weather that fell across much of Devon yesterday.
The was a little rain later in the afternoon but the crowds from town and country were blessed by a dry and only slightly overcast morning.

People flocked from all over the region to take part in the traditional event.
The Goosey Fair, as it is known locally, is one of only two of its kind in Britain, the other taking place in Nottingham.
Its origins lay in the day farmers brought their Christmas geese to town to be sold.
