Cruise ship first for Bay company
THE spectacular cruise ship Veendam was an unusual visitor to the waters off Torbay.
Owned by Holland America, she called at Brixham to land the deep sea pilot who was embarked at Amsterdam.
Cruise ships with passengers on board do not normally need the services of a deep sea pilot, so it is thought this is a first for MTS of Brixham, the company which provides pilotage services.
Veendam is on an 18-night Voyage of the Vikings cruise from Amsterdam, calling at Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland before finishing at Boston.
