Dartmoor Zoo owner signs copy of new book
IT WAS a true-life story that inspired a book that was made into a Hollywood film that generated a new version of the book.
And the man behind 'We Bought A Zoo' was in Plymouth to sign copies of both editions.

Ben, who tragically lost his wife Katherine to cancer during his struggle to save the zoo, brought his young children along to a book-signing at Waterstone's in New George Street, Plymouth.
Bookseller Tilly Craig said: "Milo and Ella were very enthused and told me all about how giraffes evolved.
"We had a nice stream of people through the store and everyone was very engaged."
Ben was kept busy signing around 50 copies of the book.
The New George Street branch has so far sold more than 360 copies and the Drake Circus branch sells around 50 a week.
Tilly added: "People seem to like the fact that this is a true story about local people."

“actually it's a little more complex than 'stretching to eat leaves at the top', one theory proposes that the long necks evolved as a secondary sexual characteristic, giving males an advantage in "necking" contests to establish dominance and obtain access to sexually receptive females. In support of this theory, necks are longer and heavier for males than females of the same age.
But nice ignorant put down there MickBarb.”

“Quote-"about how giraffes evolved"-unquote
No mystery there, they kept stretching to eat leaves on the top of trees, so every new generation had a neck that was a bit longer”

“When are they going to show a feature or do a signing with Jonny Gibbings, and his book Malice in Blunderland - the funniest and most controversial book ever? He's a plymouth lad and that book is being made into a film!”
