Dartmouth's turbo charged broadband
HIGH-SPEED fibre optic broadband is now available to the first homes and businesses in Dartmouth.
About 3,000 local householders and firms in the town are joining the high-speed revolution, following in the footsteps of Newton Abbot, Plymouth and Exeter, where fibre optic broadband has already gone live.
This latest development takes the number of premises with access to super fast internet in Devon to nearly 128,000.
Another 154,000 are earmarked for upgrades by the end of 2013, including Teignmouth, Dawlish, Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Bovey Tracey, Totnes and Churston.

The BT investment in Dartmouth is expected to give a major boost to the local economy.
A recent report by Regeneris Consulting predicted that over the next 15 years the technology could give the economy of a typical town a £143million boost, create 225 new jobs and 140 new start-up businesses.
Totnes MP Dr Sarah Wollaston said: "This is an important step forward for Dartmouth. High-speed digital connectivity is a defining factor in our long-term success.
"At a time of economic uncertainty, BT's investment in super-fast broadband allows us to create new opportunities, growth and future potential.
"Anything you can think of doing online, you can do better with fibre optic broadband. It forms the bedrock for making the most of the amazing opportunities, which will become available in the future."
Jon Reynolds, BT's South West regional director, said: "Fibre broadband offers local firms and households new ways of working flexibly and allows large data and video files to be sent and received almost instantly.
"Other benefits include access to high quality videoconferencing and better back-up of computer systems."
