Death of man in North Devon flat being treated as "unexplained"

The body of a man in his 60s has been found in a flat in the Newport area of North Devon.

Police and paramedics were called to the address in Water Lane Close in Barnstaple.

It is believed the discovery was made by a housing officer at 11:42am today.

The man's body was found on arrival and the death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious, said a police spokesperson.

Officers have been at the scene this morning carrying out investigations and will pass a report to the coroner.

A post mortem examination will be carried out over the next few days.
