Deck the halls
WHETHER you're vehemently for or against artificial Christmas trees as a main festive feature in your home, they can work perfectly well for adding a touch of subtle seasonal glamour to any room.
Alternatively, if you would rather be spending time partying and enjoying the holidays than clearing up fallen pine needles and want to ditch the real thing altogether, there are a range of imitation trees in the shops: from real-look spruces to fuchsia pink and black retro bushes.
Whatever your taste, the style of your home, or your views towards how to bring the outdoors indoors this season, we've got some tips to take you forward when choosing that statement or subtle mock perennial plant.
Things have come a long way since Queen Victoria first had a Christmas tree in her room as a child. Today, you could probably find a fake spruce in any colour, shape or size – or even have it tailored to complement your interior themes.

Tesco have a great range of fake trees in their stores, particularly if you've adapted a room to the seasonally fashionable 70s retro trend. Their three-foot pink tree (£4.88) would work well alongside any minimalist decor or neon themes; and it comes in black too.
For those who prefer a nod to the traditional, imitation pine trees can be convincingly real. Dobbies have a pre-lit 300 LED Appalachian pine-tree (£199); while Tesco are stocking six-foot Western Pine Trees (£39.94) and six-and-a-half foot Evergreen Slim Pop-Up Trees (£44.96).
If it's something a little out of the ordinary you're looking for, try Leekes' pre-lit Toplary Tree for creating a grand entrance (£110); The Contemporary Home's Crystal Droplet Table Tree at a height of just 63 centimetres (£19.99); or Tesco's five-foot Blossom Tree covered with 200 little LED lights (£69.97). If you're pushed for space, there's always the option of turning a wall into a feature tree scene with stick-on Christmas trees from Red Candy who highlight the cheery side to Christmas with their Christmas Cartoon Tree Wall Sticker Set (£26) or Spin Collective's Personalised Christmas Tree Wall Sticker (£30).
So if it's country-chic or Retro-heaven you're leaning towards this Christmas or if you fancy a traditional or quirky mock spruce to complement a room – there's something out there for everyone with plenty of time left to get decorating.
