A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to Dawlish Warren rail station today following a report of a man being struck by a train.

“Officers from BTP and Devon and Cornwall Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 3.21pm, and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from the South Western Ambulance Service also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family.

"A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
