Devon have to beat Oxfordshire at Sidmouth and hope for favours elsewhere if they are going to win the Western Division title.

Third in the table with a game left during a transitional season under new captain Neil Hancock isn't a bad effort at all.

Had Devon not slipped up at Herefordshire three games ago, they could be top themselves.

Devon trail the leaders by 13 points and second-placed Dorset by five. With 16 points for a win – and another eight available in batting and bowling bonus points – it's mathematically possible for Neil Hancock's men to win the division by beating Oxfordshire.

Devon are relying on Berkshire and Dorset not winning their games though, otherwise beating Oxfordshire will be meaningless.

"Berkshire play Cornwall, which could go either way, but I can't see Dorset losing to Wales if they game," said Hancock.

"Wales haven't won a game all season and they aren't going to start now.

"All we can do is play our game, get a result and wait to hear what happens at Truro and Bournemouth."

Devon have named the same eleven who won at Cheshire two weeks ago, and added former captain Bob Dawson and opener Chris Mole to make a squad of 13.

Devon: N D Hancock (Sidmouth), A P W Allen (Budleigh Salterton), T S Anning (Exmouth), J J Bess (Sidmouth), S R Benton (Paignton), I E Bishop (Budleigh), C Bradley (Bovey), R I Dawson (Budleigh), R J Holman (Exeter), D F Lye (Exmouth), C M Mole (Cuckfield), C L Metters (Exmouth), M W Thompson (Torquay).

Umpires: P W Matten & S F Bishopp.

Though Cornwall's Minor Counties Championship season is effectively over tomorrow's game at Truro (11am) could hardly be more high profile as leaders Berkshire arrive at Boscawen Park with the Western title up for grabs, writes Michael Weeks.

They took advantage of Dorset's rain affected game at St Austell in the last round to move above them by eight points after beating Shropshire at Shrewsbury.

Devon are five points further back and require something special from their cross Tamar rivals to land the title.

Ironically the last two seasons have seen Cornwall and Berkshire cheering each other on the final day. Two years ago Cornwall narrowly survived to draw at Cheshire, enabling Berkshire celebrations begin at Newbury. Last year the boot was on the other foot when Berkshire mounted a spectacular last day rearguard against Oxfordshire but Cheshire's win ultimately denied Cornwall the title.

Cornwall make one change with Dan Davis returning after injury to replace Antony Angove.

Cornwall: T Sharp (capt), D Roberts, M Robins, D Davis, K Parsons, C Hunkin, M Horwell (wk), S Hockin, A Smeeth, M Rowe, K Snell.
