Dog on lead 'towed along by car'

The RSPCA are investigating claims that a dog was towed along behind a car by its lead.

A member of the public called police after spotting a black hatchback car towing a dog along near Crediton.

The incident was reported on November 9 on a minor road in the Sandford area just outside Crediton, say police.

Another vehicle beeped their horn at the slow-moving hatchback and the owner was seen putting the dog into the car and driving off.

A police spokesperson said: "A member of the public saw a dog trotting along behind a slow moving car which was attached by a lead."

The RSPCA are investigating the incident.
