Dog owners pay out in fouling fines
FIXED penalty fines have been issued to dog owners who failed to clear up after their pets.
Two were issued in Lynton and a third in Combe Martin, following a campaign to reduce dog fouling in North Devon.

The fines were paid immediately by all dog owners which meant a reduction from £75 to £60.
North Devon Council's Executive Member for Environment, Councillor Rodney Cann, says: "These latest cases show we will not tolerate owners who walk away from their dogs' mess.

Two high-visibility operations are currently under way in Ilfracombe and Combe Martin with covert operations taking place across North Devon.

“I would be interested to know how many dog wardens are employed by the County Council and how many fines/Court cases result from there work. Assuming that a large part of their work involves issuing fixed penalties or summonses why is it I rarely see a mention of them in the court round up? In this 'campaign' 3, just 3 penalty notices were issued. I could issue 3 in half hour at my local Churchyard.”

“Are there any covert operations in Torridge? There is considerable do mess in Westward Ho!
Plus in September in one 10 minute period I noticed 7 dogs loose in Bideford Victoria Park and another 6 dogs loose on the beach at Westward Ho! which is a blue flag beach.”
