I READ with interest the letter from Tracy Lee, the CEO of our esteemed council, regarding the recent flooding in Gdynia Way.

This is more like the sort of thing I would like to see in terms of a response – a shame it takes a barrage of letters and coverage from The Herald to produce it.

I am no engineer, but there are one or two points I think need raising. Ms Lee mentions the flooding on the Saturday was much less than on the Thursday, but was this due to the removal of the concrete block or the fact it rained far less on the Saturday?

Further Ms Lee asks us to remember how heavy the rainfall was, that is fair enough. However this is a main route in the city and in an area which has just had many millions spent on it.

She is absolutely right to praise the workforce who helped clear the floods, a good job well done.

Finally, I wonder if Ms Lee can tell us when areas like the Forder Valley road will be rid of serial flooding or has it been decided as it appears that it's just too expensive to put right.
