Don't let EU take over our country
It SEEMS that the European Union — the one we did not vote for — has plans to, as one paper puts it, "hammer British drivers".
For too long we have been cash cows where the car is concerned. We have some of the highest fuel taxes already. There was a glimmer of hope when David Cameron promised a fuel equaliser. Apparently he did not mean it.
Typical politician.
At present 65p in the pound paid at the pumps goes to the Treasury. The motorist contributes £45billion a year in motoring taxes. It's estimated that about £8million of this is spent on the roads. We've all travelled on congested roads when sometimes a bypass would help traffic flow. We know the perils of crumbling, potholed roads.
The price we now pay to fill our cars is obscene. Public transport is not an option for everyone. Some villages have a bus once a week.
People need to shop and get to work. For some disabled people a car is a necessity.
If the EU has its way it would not only be the motorist who would suffer. Domestic fuel would be hit with huge increases in taxation, too.
The British taxpayer is already taxed very heavily. Do politicians want us reduced to a life with candles and hot water bottles in order for them to pursue their green policies?
The case for climate change is not yet proven, but it's a great excuse to take even more money from us.
A Department for Transport spokesman has said: "We have no plan to introduce a charging programme for roads." I wish we could believe that.
Remember, David Cameron and Nick Clegg said, on television, that they had no plans to raise VAT. Put simply, they lied. Why should we believe them on road pricing?
As for the EU, we should tell it, in no uncertain terms, where to go. We are a sovereign country. As such we should make our own laws and federal Europe should respect our status. Unless we resist this, the many who died in two world wars gave their lives in vain. We will be well and truly ruled by Europe.
Shame on the previous administration which surrendered so many of our freedoms to Europe — but even more shame on the coalition if it fails to protect our country from a total takeover.

“Shane, the reason people vote UKIP is that they want to remain independent from the corrupt EU. As for your statement ¿UKIP would bankrupt the country¿ far from it, Labour have proved they can do that quite comfortably, and on several occasions. Like they say the trouble with socialists they always run out of other peoples money!”

“why would anyone vote for the U.K.I.P ?
They are a joke and would soon bankrupt the country and getter us into more debt than that slug Brown did.”

“Bob, it doesn't change the fact that the UK continues to be bled dry to fund a corupt European Union.
I can see no benefit to the UK remaining in the EU.”

“This wouldn't be the same paper later forced to print a retraction would it?
"The source of the story was a study commissioned by the European Commission¿s climate action department to explore what emission reduction options were available in the transport sector. As such, the content of the report is the responsibility of contractors, AEA, and does not represent the European Commission¿s opinion, recommendations or proposals for specific action."”

“Pamela is spot on. The fact is you can not trust Labour, Conservatives or Lib Dems, they have all shown us how they lie to gain votes and power. If you want to live in an independent Britain free from outside interference, a Britain that so many fought and died for then you must vote for Independence. UKIP is the only major party that will give the people a referendum on the continued membership of a parasitic EU. Slowly it is dawning on people that billions of our taxes are being wasted in the EU. Wake up Britain before it is too late and vote UKIP”
