Driver dies after car plunges down bank

A man has died after plunging 40ft (12m) down a wooded bank in North Devon. He was driving along the A396 near Bickleigh Wood on Friday when his car left the road and fell down the embankment. The alarm was raised at about 4.50pm after the vehicle was discovered down the bank. The driver, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his next of kin were informed. No other vehicles were involved. Police have not released the identity of the man to the public. Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 quoting log number 515.
