Plymouth drug dealer's jail sentence extended by nine months over £17k of heroin

A DRUG dealer has had his prison sentence extended by nine months after admitting to possessing more than 100g of heroin with a street value of £17,500.

Terence Miller, 30, who is currently serving a four-year sentence at Channings Wood Prison, in Newton Abbott, appeared before Plymouth Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply.

The court heard how police had gone to a property on Brittany Street, in Stonehouse, on December 30 2011 to arrest Miller for drugs offences committed in May 2011. But on arrival they found Miller upstairs getting dressed with a small wrap of 0.47g of heroin close to his bed which he admitted was his.

A search of the house later revealed further heroin concealed in a boot in the wardrobe and also in the kitchen.

The court heard how the heroin packages around the house varied in weights ranging from 1.5g to 28g, with the total amount seized weighing 139.8g with an estimated street value of £17,500. He was interviewed about the heroin the same day but the police took no further action against him, the court heard.

Miller became a serving prisoner on June 8 2012 when he was sentenced for four years for supplying cocaine on three different occasions during May 2011 and for one count of supplying mephedrone, a class B drug.

Shortly after he started his sentence he also admitted that all the drugs which had been seized on December 30 2011 had belonged to him too.

Sally Dalton, for Miller, said: "Mr Miller said he has historically never been a dealer, but has been a user. For a number of years he was a user of cannabis. At the beginning of 2011 he had problems as his relationship broke down, he lost his home and dog, which is when he started having issues sniffing cocaine.

"He got involved with drugs more heavily and got involved with people who he owed money to and had pressure put on him."

The court heard how Miller got into debt to his dealers and was told by them to sell drugs to clear his debt.

Judge Erik Salomonsen, sentencing Miller, said: "You owed your dealer money and he entrusted you drugs to sell. You have to receive a prison sentence for this matter."

Miller was sentenced to four years imprisonment to run concurrently with the sentence he is already serving which added another nine months to his total sentence.
