Duchy enjoy Navy Day victory
CORNWALL warmed up for the start of the new season with a convincing 11½-3½ win over the Royal Navy at West Cornwall.
The pre-season friendly between the Senior Service and the county's top amateur team has been staged annually at Lelant (West Cornwall) or Trevose, where the first meeting took place in 1969.
Cornwall begin the regional summer Channel League campaign with a cross-Tamar derby against Devon, the defending champions, on Sunday, April 7 at Tavistock Golf Club.
Last year Cornwall finished runners-up to player-captain Adam Bridgewater's Devon in one of the closest Channel League title chases for some time.

North Devon course Saunton will stage the popular 72 hole West of England Amateur Stroke Play Championship over three days at the end of next month.
The West of England Open takes place from Friday, April 26-28.
Saunton is the stage for Devon men's opening order of merit event, the Easter Challenge Cup on Monday, April 1. England boys international Ashton Turner beat Royal North Devon teenage ace Jimmy Mullen to win the South of England Youths Championship in a dramatic play-off at Rye.
Turner – from Kenwick Park, Lincolnshire – carded a closing five birdie 64 to make up five shots on 19-year-old leader Mullen on level par 272, following a last round 69.
The 16-year-old claimed the coveted winner's Bernard Darwin Salver with birdies on both play-off holes.
