Organisers estimate that the last Like Minds Conference in February generated more than £100,000 for the local economy and reached over 500,000 people via the internet.

Exeter city centre manager John Harvey said: "Like Minds continues to be one of the strongest international influences upon Exeter – and after it raised over £100,000 for the local economy earlier this year, it is our honour to again be the focus of the digital community over those two days. People go away having had a fantastic experience in Exeter, and it's a great way of emphasising that the city really means business. It's putting Exeter on the global map."

Yann Gourvennec, head of internet and digital for Orange Business Services, said of the event: "In just two days, I make more friends and business relationships at the highest levels than in any given period of time.

"All those who play a role in social media from around the world gather at Like Minds in Devon, despite the distance from London, Paris and even Washington DC."

Scott Gould, co-founder of Like Minds with Drew Ellis, said: "Our aim is to boost the city of Exeter. We have people who are leaders in their industries who promote Exeter and Like Minds wherever they go, and no amount of money can buy that."

The conference also sees the launch of two new events – the Like Movies film festival, and Like Music, featuring 15 performers across four city centre venues.
