Kath Endacott warms up for Delhi with club run out
INTERNATIONAL sprinter Katherine Endacott returned to her roots for her last competitive action ahead of next month's Commonwealth Games in India.
Endacott, who competes for England at the Delhi Games which gets underway on October 3, said she was also keen to support her City of Plymouth AC team at the Southern Women's meeting at Exeter.

The 30-year-old had little trouble in winning her sprint races, but Endacott said the League Three meeting was all about collecting points for the team — not individual prizes.
She won the 100m in a time of 11.7secs from Exeter's under-17 athlete Chloe Gimbula who was runner-up (13.8) and she then claimed the 200m (24.0), followed home by another host-club youngster Gabi Tillson-Hawke (28.3).
Endacott also gained a personal best in the high jump, winning the field discipline with a height of 1.40m, which despite herself, she was 'really chuffed with'.
She said: "Although it's just a few weeks before the Commonwealth Games, I really wanted to do my best for Plymouth at the Southern Women's meet.
"I think it's important for athletes to stay close to your roots and pay back those people who have helped you along the way.
"It's not like a duty call as I get a lot of pleasure competing for my club and my county and I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting, if not the weather.
"There was quite a stiff breeze so the times were not that quick, but then it's the points totals that were important.
"However, it'll be my final event before I leave for the Games in India — which will be a first for me on both counts — and which is something I'm excited about.
"But competing at what some athletes would consider low-key meetings helps me keep my feet on the ground."
Other Plymouth Armada athletes also produced fine performances at the Exeter meeting — both on the track and in the field.
Under-20 star Hayley Harvey took first place in the 100m 'B' race clocking 13.0secs from Tillson-Hawke (13.8) and Croydon's Amy Dowsett (15.0) in third place.
City of Plymouth ace Harvey also doubled up, winning the 200m 'B' race in 26.6, with Exeter's Rosie Barrett a further two seconds behind.
Plymstock School student Katie Burns, who is trained at the Brickfields club by Simon Anderson, recorded a personal best in taking the silver-medal place in the 400m.
Burns, younger sister of international track and cross-country star Jess Burns, came home in 67.8secs in a race won by Exeter under-20 runner Kerry Gale (65.6).
Another of Plymouth's promising under-17 runners Frederica Richards (2:31.8) won the 800m event and followed that with a second place in the 1500m (5:05.6), while Katie Burns also took first place in the 'B' 1500m.
