As well as food there will also be stalls selling handmade soaps and handbags.

Mr Simonin added: "All of the traders will wear traditional local costumes from 100 years ago, as well as decorating their stall to represent the region of the country they come from. The market will really provide visitors with a true flavour of the continent."

Meanwhile, during the weekend Café Alf Resco will be raising funds to assist ambitious young cycle riders to make a successful career from cycle racing on the continent and will hope to bring in the cash for The Dave Rayner fund.

The fundraiser will coincide with the Tour of Britain seventh stage which will finish in the town. Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins and Sky Team Mark Cavendish will be riding in the event.
