Exeter brothers launched "unprovoked attack" on university students, court hears
TWO brothers attacked university students in unprovoked street violence, a court has been told.
Connor Conabeare was jailed for 16 weeks, suspended for 12 months, after he admitted assaulting University of Exeter students Iain Butler, Andrew Woodward and John Pike in the same incident in the early hours of one morning last October in the city’s High Street.

Conabeare, 18, of Wilcocks Road, Pinhoe, was warned by the court that if he did not do what they told him he could “bring a toothbrush” to court next time as he would be jailed immediately.
He was also ordered to pay two of his victims £100 compensation after he admitted three assault charges.

Exeter magistrates watched CCTV footage of the incident which showed the victims being punched on the ground.
The magistrates said: “We cannot have this on our streets. The victims did not deserve what happened to them.”
The victims suffered cuts and bruises and needed hospital treatment.
Conabeare’s older brother Lee Conabeare, 22, of Beacon Avenue, Exeter, also admitted assaulting one of the students and he was given a curfew order by the same bench.
