EXETER City manager Paul Tisdale says he is hopeful striker John O'Flynn will have an important part to play in the remainder of the season.

The Irishman has made just four starts so far during the 2011/12 season after enduring a slow recovery from a knee operation over the summer.

But he has managed to score twice in that time and Tisdale says there is more to come.

The manager said: "John's injury is fine, he has just missed a lot of football.

"Him being him, when we needed him six weeks ago he wasn't particularly fit and had a very stiff back, but he played for three or four games when we needed him.

"A lot of players wouldn't have played when they weren't 100 per cent fit, they would have protected their own reputation, but he played for us when we needed somebody, albeit with a stiff back, but he played.

"It's hard to forget about those things. I'm hoping he can have a significant second half of the season."

As well as those starts, O'Flynn has made seven substitute appearances, including a late cameo at Colchester United on New Year's Eve.

That day he entered the fray as a replacement for Daniel Nardiello, who is building up his game time following an injury of his own.

That duo plus Guillem Bauza have all missed significant chunks of the campaign to date, so it is little surprise that Tisdale is eager to get them all back to their peak soon.

He said: "I trust those players to score goals, I trust Daniel to start scoring, Richard (Logan) delivered against Yeovil when he got his chance and scored again.

"I know John O'Flynn is a good goalscorer and I know Guillem will create things like he did against Yeovil.

"The goals will come back, we have just got to stick with it. To come back (and equalise against Yeovil) showed nerve and there's no harm in it. We are well aware of what we need to do for the second half of the season."
