Defence counsel Kerim Fuad QC said his client was likely to plead guilty to manslaughter at a future hearing, something not accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Cane, who spoke only to confirm his name, was remanded in custody for the next hearing on January 4, 2013.

A trial is listed for July next year and is due to last up to eight days.
