THE MUPPETS (U)

A MUPPET called Walter (voiced by Peter Linz) lives with his human brother Gary (Jason Segel), who is about to celebrate 10 years with his girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams). The trio visit Los Angeles where Walter discovers that scheming oil man Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) plans to bulldoze the Muppet Theatre and drill for the black gold that lies beneath. The only way to thwart Richman is to rally the troops. So Walter galvanises Kermit (Steve Whitmire), Miss Piggy (Eric Jacobson), Fozzie Bear (Jacobson again), Gonzo (Dave Goelz) and the gang into organising a televised appeal in the company of celebrity guests including Whoopi Goldberg and Selena Gomez.

THE WOMAN IN BLACK (12A)

LONDON solicitor Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) is haunted by the death of his wife Stella (Sophie Stuckey) during child birth. He seeks refuge in his love for their three-year-old son, Joseph (Misha Handley) but his work suffers as a consequence. Arthur is despatched to the remote village of Crythin Gifford where he must prove himself by attending to the papers of Alice Drablow, the recently deceased owner of Eel Marsh House. The locals including innkeeper Fisher (Shaun Dooley) and his wife (Mary Stockley), try to ward him off but Arthur persists with the help of local landowner Mr Daily (Ciaran Hinds) and glimpses a mysterious woman (Liz White) dressed all in black, who is blamed for the deaths of children in the village.

BIG MIRACLE (PG)

WHILE filming in Barrow, Alaska, TV journalist Adam Carlson (John Krasinski) discovers that a family of whales is trapped in the ice far from safety. Their only air hole is slowly freezing over so he broadcasts a news piece in the hope that the networks might pick up the story. Adam's old flame Rachel Kramer (Drew Barrymore), now a vociferous Greenpeace activist, rushes to the scene to help. Annoyingly for her, Adam seems rather smitten with ambitious Los Angeles reporter Jill Jerard (Kristen Bell), who has arrived in Alaska to cover the story. Adam and co concoct a rescue plan, calling upon Governor Haskell (Stephen Root), oil tycoon JW McGraw (Ted Danson) and helicopter pilot Colonel Scott Boyer (Dermot Mulroney) to rally to their desperate cause.

THE VOW (12A)

LEO (Channing Tatum) glimpses Paige (Rachel McAdams) in a queue and uses his charm and good looks to secure a memorable first date. They fall in love and marry, but one snowy night, the couple are involved in a car accident. Leo survives relatively unscathed but Paige suffers massive trauma to her head, resulting in memory loss. As Paige comes to terms with her condition, her estranged parents (Sam Neill, Jessica Lange) exploit her misfortune to make amends for past mistakes and woo her back home. Leo tries everything to earn Paige's love again but she gravitates towards her old flame Jeremy (Scott Speedman), who is the last man she can remember with affection.
