Facing down greedy birds...well, almost
Journal reporter Fran Taffs braved the seagulls and tried to enjoy some chips on Ilfracombe sea front before being harassed into making an escape.
She said: "I was massively looking forward to tucking into my portion of chips on Ilfracombe Quay.
"And while I knew I was likely to get eyed-up by a greedy seagull, the rate at which they attacked me was astonishing.
"I had barely sat down when in less than 20 seconds I had a swarm around me, attracted by the glorious smell of my salty snack.

"Even though I knew they were going for the food, I couldn't help feeling petrified I was about to have my fingers pecked off. When they started nicking the chips that was it – I dropped them and ran for it.
"I was gutted as I watched about 20 of them helping themselves to my lunch. They were completely unafraid of me and entirely focused on the food."
