Family musical about swashbuckling deeds
SWASHBUCKLING family musical Treasure Island heads to the beautiful grounds of two local stately homes. Based on the Robert Louis Stevenson novel about young Jim and Long John Silver, this new version for families includes songs, dances and interactive fun, all presented by a cast bursting with energy and enthusiasm.
The story begins as Jim and his young pirate friend Red Ruth find a map and set off for an island to find the treasure. On the way, they learn that things are not always as they seem.
For children who want to get even more involved, the company offers a 45-minute drama workshop before the performance. Here children, aged 5 to 10 years, can explore the story of Treasure Island, take part in their own seafaring adventures and meet some of the characters from the play.
Cambridge Touring Theatre has been performing touring shows since 2000.

Every performance features six actors, a musician and a colourful stage which turns magically into inns, ports, ships and islands.
The performers play with the original story and bring it to life for children of today.
They sing, they dance, they steal sandwiches and they lose no opportunity to delight and entertain all ages.
This group of dedicated performers is headed up by Rosie Humphreys, who moved to Cambridge after working for the English National Opera in London. She has a passionate commitment to introducing theatre to families.
"The reason why I started Cambridge Touring Theatre was as a result of seeing the joy experienced by my own children as they watched live theatre. " she said.
"Add a picnic and a rug and there's no better way to spend a summer day."
