Away fan invaded Plymouth Argyle pitch
AN away fan invaded the pitch during a Plymouth Argyle game, a court heard.
Mark Cooper, 51, ran from the stands to celebrate with players after Bristol Rovers had just scored a goal at Home Park, city magistrates were told.
Cooper, of Kingswood, Bristol, admitted going on to the playing area during a football match on September 18.
He was given a six-month conditional discharge.

Angela Furniss, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said Cooper and others ran on to the pitch to celebrate with players during the evening game.
Sarah Glanville, for Cooper, said he "deeply regretted" his actions but he was caught up in the emotion of the occasion.
She said he had written a letter to the court to apologise and also to Argyle for the inconvenience caused.
Miss Glanville said he had been a Rovers fan since a boy and had been in Plymouth on a family day out.

“Does this really need to end up in court? As a previous offender of such a terrible crime in my enthusiastic younger days I remember being escorted from an away ground, I think it was celebrating Adrian Littlejohn scoring a first half winner? and then spent an hour in the car park judging how things where going by listening to the noise of the crowd? No waste of tax payers money, just a waste of my ten quid or whatever it cost me to get in.
I actually think at 51 the guy should be applauded for having the will to get so excited following a team even worse than ours, Well Done Fella

“He was given a six-month conditional discharge. And Argyle signed him because he had some speed, unlike their current players.”

“Well sometimes you get caught up in the moment and just "go with the flow", its rather dumb though if you are a supporter!!”

“Right on, Jethro. I do wonder how one fan constitutes an invasion. Also, why is it a criminal offence? Surely it's a civil matter, like trespass.
Once upon a time a pitch invasion was expected at the end of a match. Mind you Argyle only had 3 fans then.”

“Not being a football fan I have some difficulty with the conception of a single individual invading a football pitch, guessing when the Germans invaded Poland they did it with more than one soldier ! ! Can't help but wonder whether all these football related crimes could easily be prevented if the public were simply excluded from the stadium, whats wrong with watching it on TV.”
