Festival tent taken down at last minute
A FARMER who hosts festivals popular with hippies has avoided legal action by taking down a music tent at the 11th hour.
Mid Devon District Council said a marquee at Whitmoor Farm, near Uffculme, had been left up for too long and must be dismantled.

Council officials were set to start enforcement action against owner Bob Watts in order to achieve removal of the tent, which they considered an 'unauthorised development', at a planning hearing last Wednesday.
That was until they heard it was in fact taken down in the early hours of that morning.

John Clarke, enforcement officer for Mid Devon District Council, said: "The marquee has been used for music festivals. It had been there for some time and, as a result, officers formed the view it was a permanent development."
The farm has hosted Wattsfest, an event featuring singers and poets and Kozmic Ken's Psychedelic Dream Festival, which brought a taste of "hippy California" to the district.
