NEWTON Abbot concludes its season with a seven-race card starting with a novices' hurdle over 2m1f today.

Ten are due to go to post in the first, including Peter Bowen's Rudanphast, who ran out an easy winner at Hereford in August. This is his first start over hurdles and he should go close.

Caheerloch has won his last two starts at the course and he lines up for more in the long-distance handicap hurdle. He's gone up some 11lbs since his first success on August 10 and if that puts the stoppers on him Strumble Head may be worth a second look.

Nigel Twiston-Davies and his son Sam have proved a formidable team over the summer months and it could pay to side with Moulin de La Croix in the 2m5 handicap chase.

The gelding was a beaten favourite at Southwell in August, but he was badly hampered at the fourth fence. Given more luck in running he looks the one to beat here.

Paul Nicholls has trained his usual swathe of winners this summer and Tignello could add to the haul in the 2m1f handicap hurdle. He didn't get the run of the race last time out at Hereford and lost out by a nose to Freedom Fire, but he can make amends today.

January has his first run for Liam Cocoran in the 2m handicap chase and Tony McCoy is in the saddle again having won on him at Southwell three weeks ago.

A 2m6f handicap hurdle concludes the summer season at Newton Abbot and Am I Blue will be a warm order to follow up an easy win at Hereford on Wednesday. She carries a 7lbs penalty for that success but should go close again.
