Final farewell to a long-serving editor
MOURNERS gathered at St James' Catholic Church in Tiverton yesterday to remember the life of former Gazette editor Robert House.
Mr House, known as Bob, died at his home near Tiverton on Sunday, January 9. He was aged 83.
A requiem mass was held at the church followed by internment at Halberton Cemetery.
Prior to joining the
Gazette
in 1979, where he was editor for 12 years, Mr House had worked in Fleet Street and on regional newspapers in Lincolnshire and the South East.
As well as a tribute read by widow Esther, hymns
The Lord's My Shepherd
and
Soul of my Saviour
were sung.
