Firefighters rescue pair from car stuck in flood water near A377
A man who tried to help a woman trapped in flood water had to be rescued by firefighters.
The woman became stuck in her car in floods on a minor road near the A377 at Bishop's Tawton, New Bridge, Tawstock, near Bartstaple.
The woman was trapped in her blue Citroen Saxo when a man waded into rescue her.
Unfortunately he also became stuck in the flooded road.
Special Rescue crews and a fire appliance from Barnstaple together with a fire crew from Braunton were called to the scene at 9:45am wearing water tight suits.

Unfortunately the water proved too deep for the four-wheel drive vehicle and they launched a small boat.
Both people were rescued and did not suffer any injuries, say police.
The area continues to suffer from a night of torrential rain with roads in the area impassable and reports of cars getting stuck.
