Fold-up bike fans mark first year
CREDITON folding bike fans met up to celebrate the first anniversary of a cycle hire firm.
Enthusiasts of the Brompton bicycle made their way to Exeter St Davids station on Saturday at the site of the hire dock.
The 20 cyclists marked the occasion with a 10-mile excursion along the Exe Estuary Trail to Exmouth and back.
The event was organised by a collaboration of two groups – national cycling charity the Cyclists' Touring Club and Sustainable Crediton.

John Skrine, chair of the scheme, said: "As the owner of a Brompton, I was keen for others to discover the joys of folding bicycles.
"Hiring a Brompton at St Davids and taking it on the train with you for the day is a great way to be sure of getting to your destination and back without the expense of taxis or the uncertainty of buses."
The new riders had to learn not only how to fold and unfold the small-wheeled bicycles, but also familiarise themselves with a booking system that works through the internet, with a phone helpline.
Ride leader Roy Russell, secretary of CTC Exeter, said: "It was a good turn-out and most people managed to get their bikes out of the racks for the ride."
