Foodbank to open in Barnstaple today
FOLLOWING the success of Bideford Foodbank, the organisation is now preparing to expand to Barnstaple.
A second distribution centre will open tomorrow at the Salvation Army Hall in Oakleigh Road and will be open on Fridays from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
The charity gives three days worth of food to needy people identified by agencies such as social services and the NHS
The opening of the new centre comes only six months after the Bideford centre opened. By October it had moved to bigger premises on Mill Street and also found additional warehouse space to store the food being donated.

In addition to the new Barnstaple Distribution Centre, more regular supermarket collection days will be taking place across North Devon and therefore additional volunteers are required to join the food collection day team.
