Freak hailstorm makes Plymouth look like snow globe
A SUDDEN hailstorm made Plymouth look like a giant snow globe on Saturday.
Across the city residents were diving back into their homes and cars making a beeline for cover.
Residents were so shocked they took to social networking sites Facebook and Twitter to share their stories and pictures.
One Tweet read: "Wow! Hailstones the size of marbles blasting down my chimney and thunder! #Plymouth weather is weird today!"

Dr Rob Burton tweeted: "Massive hail stones in #Plymouth whilst we were sunning ourselves in Jennycliff."
And Warren Dickson said: "Freaky large #Hailstones with thunder and lightening just now in #Plymouth."
Residents could witness more freak hailstorms this week, a forecaster has said.
John Lee, from the Meteo Group, said: "It was quite an eventful day on Saturday weather-wise.
"We were looking at the hailstorm as it was happening and it hit much of the Westcountry and Cardiff.
"There was also thunder and lightning to go with it.
"This week there is set to be an area of low pressure over Plymouth with the possibility of heavy thundery showers."
