A DEBT advice service is being organised free of charge for cash-strapped families in the South Hams.

A drop in session, run by the Christians Against Poverty charity, is being run at the Sainsbury's store in Dartmouth in conjunction with South Hams District Council's Connect services.

A council customer service advisor will be on hand to help with a variety of public services, not for profit and charitable organisation queries. CAP operates through a growing network of debt centres across the UK - each in partnership with the local church.

They use a combination of face-to-face home visits, budgeting advice, debt management and befriending to deliver a holistic and in-depth debt counselling service to those in need.

One of their representatives will also be on hand to provide help and advice to people in the district so they can get out of debt or better manage their finances.

South Hams Customer Services advisor Claire Wager said: "Information on the free debt service will be available from the South Hams Connect stand in Sainsbury's foyer.

"Pop in and pick up more than you expected from your local store. Everyone is welcome".

The drop in session will run on Wednesday February 20 from 10.30am to 1pm.
