People are being invited to see whether they could access savings on their energy bills thanks to the innovative collective switching initiative.

The campaign, which runs between February 18 and March 17, will be hitting the road from Friday on a seven-day, tour with its promotional bus, nicknamed 'Bill', in a bid to take the collective energy buying scheme to Devon residents.

The scheme hopes to help people save at least £100 off their heating bills by people coming together to switch utility providers, and although called 'Exeter Together' it is in fact available for anyone in the region to join.

Cllr Rachel Sutton, Exeter City Council's member for sustainable development and transport, said: "We are really excited as we are helping to make the benefits of collective buying power a reality.

"This is an enormous opportunity to get people switching to a better rate and we can't wait to tell people all about it during our tour of the city. Although the campaign is called Exeter Together, it is worth pointing out that anyone can actually join it – whether you're from Tiverton, Crediton, Cullompton or in fact anywhere in the UK, the more the merrier!"

Older people requiring assistance with registration can contact Age UK Exeter on 01392 202092 to make an appointment to see an adviser at the charity's centre in Cowick Street in Exeter.

Alternatively, people can also visit the Citizen Advice Bureau as help is on offer for people who might need additional assistance using the Exeter Together website.

People are advised to bring their latest fuel bill so that staff can help people make the comparison and the CAB will also be helping clients who book advice appointments to fully understand the scheme and the financial benefits it may be possible to secure.

For more information visit www.exetertogether.com or alternatively call freephone number 0800 542 0204.
