I WASN'T very impressed with the letter of the week Postbag, September 27.

After taking in Ms Nicola's advice I noticed the words were taken from the League Against Cruel Sport's agenda on game shooting, and I found the very same story on their web page.

Shooting is no different to any other way of producing food for the table.

Many would say a game bird has a longer and better life then the chicken or many other farmed animals.

Yes they are flushed over the guns, and not always killed cleanly – many survive to breed on in the wild. They are free, wild birds, and are not caged or restricted, and don't have the stress of being taken to the slaughterhouse like most other farmed animals do.

I can assure you their end doesn't always go to plan, shooting is not perfect, but what is?
