Harvest time celebrations
ORGANISERS of Shobrooke Church's harvest festival say this year's event will be bigger and better than ever.
There will be an additional marquee with craft stalls. The church itself will have attract- ions including a silent auction, a draw, and produce and book stalls.
The theme of the festival is the seasons of the year and the flower decorations in the church will highlight this.
There will be refreshments on Saturday, September 18, from 10.30am to 5pm, and teas on Sunday, September 19, from 2pm to 5pm.
The festival opens with a brief service at the Holy Well at 10.15am on the Saturday.
There will be a short, informal children's service at 3pm on the Sunday, followed by the traditional rose petal shower from the church tower.
The festival will close with evensong at 6pm on the Sunday led by the Rev Nigel Guthrie. The former Bishop of Crediton, the Rt Rev Richard Hawkins, will preach.
Proceeds from the weekend will be put towards repairs to the lych-gate, improved outdoor lighting in the churchyard and other repairs.
