SILVER FISH COMPETITION

STEVE Hayman won the Exeter & District Association's silver fish competition at Goodiford Mill in Cullompton on Sunday.

Hayman collected the £75 first prize from peg three with a 23lb 6oz bag containing tench, crucian, skimmers and a roach. He fished 4mm expander over micros and groundbait.

Zac Newton (Team ALS) was second, winning £55, with 20lb 8oz, fishing with single caster on a light waggler. Alex Kerr took £35 for third, alternating between a pole and waggler.

The previous week, Newton won £70 at an open competition on the match lake at Goodiford Mill for his catch of 27lb from peg 34. Brian Sussex was second from peg 36, winning £45 with 18lb 8oz, and Steve Hayman took £25 for third with 16lb 8oz.

Exeter Canal

Dave Sellick fished the Lime Kilns with Duncan Hill and had a mixed bag of over 20lb with two tench and a number of skimmers and hybrids along with roach and perch.

Bradley Pond Open

Mark Cousins from Newton Abbot won an open competition on Bradley Pond. He fished maggot hookbait on the feeder to catch skimmers, roach and perch totalling 4kg 400g.

Gary Webber (Preston Innovations) was second with 2k 840g and Rick Johnson (Tubertini) was third with 2k 790 of roach with one bonus skimmer.

Exmouth Sea Angling

Brian Reed took the Walbern Cup for the third year in a row as angler of the year at Exmouth Sea Angling Association's presentation night.

Goodiford Mill

The specimen lake at Goodiford Mill produced big bags of mixed silver fish. Two anglers netted 40-50lbs of crucian carp to 4lb 2oz and a roach to 2lbs 12oz. The best bait was maggot.
