Herald Get Hired campaign heads to the Guildhall
THE Herald is taking the Get Hired campaign off the page and into the Guildhall with an all-day expo to help job-seekers find work.
The free-to-enter event, from 10am to 7pm on March 15, will feature dozens of employers and organisations giving advice and work opportunities to Plymouth's job-hunters.
Among organisations already committed to taking part are City College Plymouth, Working Links, Plymouth Citybus and Venus Training and Consultancy.
The Get Hired Expo also coincides with the final day of this year's National Apprenticeship Week.

Recent Government figures showed Plymouth's jobless total stood at 6,145 at the end of 2012 – but there are also a huge number of unfilled vacancies in the city too.
The Herald, therefore, wants to bring employers and potential employees together to fill these gaps and help individuals into employment.
And it will also focus on those in a job but wishing to retrain, and budding entrepreneurs aiming for self-employment.
It's a step forward for the Get Hired campaign, which was launched in June with a mission to highlight job and training opportunities in the city.
During the past six months The Herald has featured dozens of businesses and organisations striving to help the unemployed.
And we have told the stories of job-seekers, and their quests to find employment.
Several of those we have followed have found work or training.
Gemma Mulcahy, who is organising the Get Hired Expo, said: "We launched the Get Hired campaign through The Herald's The Workplace back in June and it was successful at helping to get people back into employment.
"So on the back of its popularity we have decided to organise this free event to give everyone in Plymouth the opportunity to access expertise.
"It will feature the city's largest employers, with job vacancies.
"Some will be taking CVs and possibly even interviewing people on the day.
"The number of unfilled job vacancies has increased so there's a need to match people with jobs.
"Education providers and training providers will be there too, there will be information about apprenticeships, and we are hoping the emergency services and armed forces will be represented.
"We also hope to have a CV clinic and will invite Year 10 and 11 and sixth form students.
"It will also cater for people who are looking to retrain and those who want to start their own businesses, so start-up organisations will be present too."
Phil Davies, principal of City College Plymouth, said: "The Herald's Get Hired campaign has done a tremendous job in helping to raise awareness of the many opportunities available to help those looking for work improve their chances.
"It just goes to show what organisations in Plymouth can achieve when they work collaboratively.
"City College Plymouth has a major role to play in this too, and works with a range of other organisations across the city to help get people back into work through PACE: the Plymouth Advice Centre for Employment."
He added: "The College is committed to making a significant contribution to combating adult and youth unemployment in Plymouth, in particular by helping individuals to help themselves.
"The Herald's Get Hired campaign has enabled the city to showcase some of the employment and business start-up support available as well as directly helping some of the Get Hired crew.
"I am delighted that the campaign includes the Get Hired Expo event.
"All the relevant organisations can come together to provide the people of Plymouth with, effectively, a one-stop-shop for free advice, guidance and information on how to get into work or return to work or, alternatively, on how to set up their own business."
