Hit and run driver sought after schoolboy, 10, injured in Holsworthy

A TEN-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a hit and run in Holsworthy.

Police want to trace a medium-sized silver car after the driver fled the scene after the boy was injured outside Vision Express on Bodmin Street at 5.10pm on Thursday.

Emergency services were called and the road was blocked off for the response vehicles.

A rapid response vehicle, full ambulance crew, doctor and local police attended the scene.

The boy suffered a serious ankle injury and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by ambulance.

The road remained closed for some time while officers carried out an investigation of the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they are trying to trace the driver of the car.

A spokesman said: "The driver left the scene and failed to stop after the collision. The boy sustained a serious ankle injury, a possible fracture.

"His injuries are not thought to be life changing or life threatening.

"There is an ongoing investigation to find the driver of the car. Anyone who has any information or saw the incident please contact us."
