Hocking loads up GP tally

A DETERMINED run by Jeremy Hocking gave him the honour of being the first South Devon Athletic Club runner home in the Templer Ten.

Hocking clinched maximum points towards the SDAC Grand Prix series by completing the muddy course 14th overall in 1.02.36, two positions and 22 seconds ahead of clubmate Colin Peters.

The Paignton-based club was well represented at Teignbridge Trotters' justly-popular event.

South Devon took third place for both the men's and women's team prizes.

The men's team comprised Hocking, Colin Peters, Vince Langdon, Rob Leeke, Jeremy Goddard and Marc Jones, while the women's team was Sue Hayes, Kerry Bell, Karen Bumby and Heather Maddock.

Sue Hayes won second prize in her age group.
