Huge Exmoor barn fire sees 700 tonnes of hay and straw go up in flames

Firefighters have spent the night battling a large barn blaze on Exmoor.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire after receiving a call reporting a glow in the sky around the village of Luccombe, near Minhead, shortly after 3am this morning.

A fire crew from Porlock was first on the scene at Wilmersham Farm, where two barns containing straw and agricultural machinery were well alight.

Crews from Minehead, Williton, Wiveliscombe and Bridgwater also attended.

The blaze is believed to involve 700 tonnes of hay and straw, two tractors, one all terrain vehicle and 35 tones of corn, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said this morning.

Crews continued to monitor the burning hay today.
