Police are searching for Desmond White, who went missing at 7.05am last Thursday from Ernesettle Lane after being dropped off for work.
He has not been seen since.
Det Insp John Philips said police had recently reviewed the search parameters and had now included areas around the railway line.

He said officers had searched from the place Mr White was last seen down towards the Tamar Bridge and up towards Tamerton Bridge and onto the Tavy Bridge.
A force PolSA (Police Search Adviser) has assisted with the investigation, and will advise on areas of search, methodology, techniques, search assets, health and safety aspects, logistical and technical constraints, as well as any limitations of the search.
Det Insp Philips said: "We are keen to hear from anybody in relation to Mr White. We have had a couple of sightings which have been investigated.
"We have been making inquiries into Mr White, his lifestyle and background to see if there's anything we've missed which could suggest where he now is.
"No matter how seemingly insignificant, if you know anything please contact police."
Police have been assisted in their searches by the MoD police as well as the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team.
Police still hope a carrier bag with snack bars in it found hooked on to a tree could help the investigation into his disappearance, which is said to be "completely out of character".
Mr White is described as male, white, aged 45, 6ft 2ins tall, of slim build, usually wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log number 470 of 12/9/13.
