Hygiene rating scheme seminar
CAFES, restaurants, takeaways and other food outlets are being asked to brush up on their hygiene knowledge.
South Hams District Council is offering seminars on its Food Hygiene Rating Scheme to food businesses across the area.
In partnership with the Food Standards Agency, the council is inviting restaurants, cafes and takeaways to the sessions.
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme allows customers to make an informed choice about where to eat out or buy food.

Hygiene standards are assessed during routine inspections.
A rating is then awarded, from five for 'very good' to zero for 'major improvements necessary'. The seminars will be presented by the council's Food Safety Team who will explain how the rating scheme works and how to comply with hygiene regulations.
Pubs, supermarkets, fishmongers and anyone else who wants to attend can contact the council for a place at one of the seminars, which are set to take place at Follaton House in Totnes.
