BILL NIGHY has revealed how RICHARD CURTIS gave him his big break with Love Actually.
The 63-year-old, who had been acting for over 20 years before he starred in Richard’s 2003 romantic drama, said he never had to audition for another role after that.
“I’ve only had to audition for Richard once, and that was the first time. And in fact, it was also, inexpressibly, marvellous for me because after I auditioned for him for Love Actually and after the film came out, I never had to audition for anyone ever again,” he said.
“If you ask any actor, that’s kind of one of the greatest things that can ever happen to you,” he added.

*FREDDIE HIGHMORE has said his new TV series tries to copy the suspense of Psycho, which it is based on.
The Charlie And The Chocolate Factory star plays a teenage Norman Bates in Bates Motel, a series based on the classic Hitchcock horror film.
Freddie, 21, said he had first watched Psycho when he was quite young because there was very little overt violence.
He said: “I was 13 or 14 the first time I saw Psycho. Is that too young? The funny thing about Psycho is that there’s nothing explicit. In the famous shower scene, you don’t see the knife hitting the flesh, it’s your interpretation of what it is. But it is that suspense that drove Psycho and that we’ve tried to replicate in Bates Motel.
“It’s not driven by violence, it isn’t Norman Bates kills one person every day and you come back next week and who’s he going to get this time. It’s more that suspense of psychological ruin, seeing Norman’s transformation into insanity or certainly into the Norman that we see in Psycho.”
*CHERYL COLE has revealed her beauty and fitness secrets.
The former Girls Aloud singer told FeelUnique.com what her regime was to keep her hair glossy and figure toned.
She said: “I’m really good at using weekly hair masks to keep my hair in good condition. I went away for my birthday and didn’t use a mask as often as I normally would and I really noticed the difference. It’s just something you’ve got to do.”
On her lack of a diet, Cheryl, 30, said: “I don’t follow any strict diets, I just eat sensibly. I’m not eating McDonald’s or pizza every day but I do allow myself one cheat day a week, normally on a Sunday.
“I have a really sweet tooth and love cupcakes, doughnuts and basically anything that’s really bad for you.”
*KURT RUSSELL has revealed how excited he was to work with TERENCE STAMP on his latest movie The Art of the Steal.
The Hollywood veteran, who has been in a relationship with GOLDIE HAWN for thirty years, plays a part-time art thief and motorcycle daredevil in the heist film.
Speaking on the red carpet at the movie’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Kurt said he had realised a dream by working with Star Wars actor Terence.
“With any group or crew of guys who have made theft their life, those guys they can trust are who they run with, and there are very few of them. My scenes with Terence Stamp were a great opportunity to work with someone who has done some stuff I’ve always loved. He was just the right guy and I was really thrilled to be able to work with him.
“No matter what business you’re in, trust is really big, but when you’re in the business of theft it’s really big, and when it doesn’t work out it’s not good.”
*ZOE SALDANA has secretly married artist Marco Perego, according to reports.
The Star Trek actress apparently tied the knot with an intimate and low-key ceremony in London in June, which a few close friends and relatives attended, reported Us Weekly.
“It was super small but very romantic and beautiful,” a source said.
The 34-year-old, who was born in New Jersey and raised in New York, was first linked to the Italian artist, also 34, in May when they were seen kissing after the premiere of her film, Star Trek Into Darkness, in Los Angeles.
According to the magazine, the newlyweds have “known each other for a long time” and “have great chemistry.”
*SIMON COWELL has come in for a ribbing from his fellow judges after he sang on US X Factor.
The 53-year-old music mogul – famous for telling other people they can’t sing - impersonated a contestant at the Denver auditions of the TV talent show, singing ELVIS PRESLEY’s Can’t Help Falling In Love.
A trailer for the show reveals DEMI LOVATO telling the hopeful, who sings in a very slow, deep voice: “You would sound like what Simon sounds like when he’d sing.”
Demi and fellow judge KELLY ROWLAND then goad Simon into singing, cheered on by the crowd. The clip then cuts to the panel and the crowd’s reaction to Simon’s voice, and he declares: “That will never be aired.”
But the sound of Simon’s singing will be revealed when the second episode of the series airs on TV.
The trailer shows an embarrassed looking Simon backstage insisting: “Can I just be clear, I didn’t sing, I impersonated a singer. That is not singing.”
