Ice warning to drivers for rush-hour
A severe weather warning for ice remains in force for the Westcountry despite forecasts of improving conditions during the rest of the week.
The Met Office's amber warning for snow ran until 9pm last night although further light snow flurries may hit Devon and Cornwall today.

But the warning was immediately replaced with one for ice, with difficult driving conditions expected during today's morning rush-hour.
A Met office spokesman said: "As temperatures fall on Wednesday night, icy stretches will again form on many untreated surfaces especially where new snow has fallen on Wednesday or lying snow refreezes. There may also be a few light snow flurries in places though any new accumulations will be slight. The public are advised to take extra care."

After what is predicted to be a cold, dry and at times sunny day today another warning – this time for rain – was issued for Friday as another weather system moves in.
"A combination of rain and snow melt could lead to localised minor surface water and river flooding," the spokesman added. "The public should be aware of potential disruption to travel."
