Inn for sale, as landlords call time
The landlords of a coastal village pub are selling their business after more than 20 years of pulling pints at the Good Beer Guide listed free house.
Mike and Linda Balster have appointed agents Bettesworths to sell the Clifford Arms in Shaldon on their behalf. It is asking £585,000 for the pub which it says generates "good profits" on an annual turnover of around £285,000 excluding VAT.

The inn, which has a two-bedroom owners' apartment, has an open-plan trading area seating around 50 patrons. A lower dining area provides a further 26 covers and the business has a well equipped commercial kitchen.
An attractive walled beer garden provides outdoor seating for 36, with further tables and seating for 16 on a paved trading area at the front of the pub.

The character premises underwent a major refurbishment in 2006, with the landlords supported in the business's running by a team of staff. It has developed a good reputation for its home-cooked menus from locally-sourced produce, selection of micro-brewery real ales and a strong following for its live events, including Monday jazz nights.
